Alaska women say no to Palin, and other linkage.

Phew, I have a lot of links to catch up on, because I’ve had a busy day! 🙂

Yesterday’s linkage:

Feministe add to the growing amount of scary information on Sarah Palin’s administration in Wasilla Alaska saying “no” to paying for rape kits.

The blogger at kmareka.com speculates that the reason Wasilla and Palin charged rape victims for their own rape kits may have been an insidious attempt to discourage getting the kits done so that the women would not have access to emergency contraception.

“Palin’s harbor seal DNA earmarks notwithstanding; plz laugh at my tired and monotonous bear DNA earmark jokes.”

You can’t turn on mainstream cable news without seeing clips of Charlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah Palin. When I caught some clips, Gibson called Palin out on her securing earmarks for DNA research on harbor seals.

I sat there and thought, “Oh geez, and McCain kept telling that joke on Montana’s bear DNA research earmarks????”

What joke, you may be wondering? This one:

“My friends,” McCain says, “we spent $3 million of your money to study the DNA of bears in Montana. “Now I don’t know if that was a paternity issue or a criminal issue, but it was a waste of money.”

Yeah, that one. Before I got completely sick of listening to stump speeches on TV, I heard him tell it countless times.

Having heard this new piece of information, I assumed that this must mean he’d quit repeating that joke over and over with the addition of a VP candidate who loves her some earmarks for scientific research. Silly little me. According to Think Progress he told this joke for what has to be the billionth time…with Palin standing right next to him.

Not only does this add to my growing belief that the selection of Palin was reckless and not well thought out, it shows that either he thinks we are dumb enough not to pick up on this bit of hypocracy, or he is dumb enough to think no one was going to pick up on that bit of hypocracy.

Oh, and it also shows he needs somebody to write fresh jokes for him… *sigh*
